Nate's Oyster Bar
About This Spot
Stepping into Nate's Oyster Bar in Slocomb feels like arriving at a beloved neighborhood retreat where time slows just enough to savor good company and even better seafood. The room hums with easy chatter beneath the glow of large-screen TVs, blending lively energy with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s a place where familiar faces—both staff and regulars—add a sense of warmth that feels more like gathering at a friend’s house than a restaurant.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and inviting, with a pace that encourages lingering over plates rich with coastal flavors. Whether seated amid the mix of classic dining tables or near the bar, guests are met with a genuine sense of community and care. There’s a rhythm here shaped by shared meals and casual conversations, a comforting echo of meals meant to be enjoyed slowly, bite by flavorful bite.
The menu reflects this spirit with dishes that speak to the Gulf’s bounty, prepared in ways that honor tradition while keeping comfort front and center. Crispy fried oysters contrast beautifully with fresh, thoughtfully composed salads, and the shrimp and crab offerings are hearty enough to satisfy both regulars and first-timers alike. Each plate comes together with an effortless balance—meat and seafood never overwhelmed but always satisfying, like the familiar handshake of Southern hospitality on a plate.
What stays with you after a visit is less about dramatic flourishes and more about the little moments: a friendly server who knows your name, the crackle of perfectly fried onion rings, or the quiet pleasure of biting into plump, gulf-caught shrimp. Nate’s Oyster Bar quietly invites both locals and newcomers to slow down, enjoy good food, and share in a simple but genuine experience anchored in place and people.

We had dinner here earlier this week. The place is great, the food was awesome and our server was quick and friendly. As we are moving into the area, I am looking forward to our next visit.

Excellent experience and great customer service of the time. The atmosphere is fun. The same staff has worked there for years. Large screen TV's inside. Perfect place to eat, have a drink, and talk. I highly recommend the fried shrimp, crab claws, and any of the salads. Tonight, I had the grilled chicken salad. I love how they don't dump the meat on it. You get to add it.

Absolutely love this local favorite. Granny (server) made my first trip the best and I can't wait to go back just to see her! She was a hoot. The food was perfect and so delicious. I had the fried grouper nuggets & sweet potato. I didn't care for the slaw but that's just my preference. I'm looking forward to my next trip. The inside is a mix of dining room tables and its just neat. You have to try them.

Great seafood platter! Nate's cooks their fried oysters kind of crispy, which seems to enhance the taste of them. Delicious! HUGE Gulf shrimp, the biggest I've ever had on a platter. The fried crawfish as an appetizer were good. Salad bar for house salad is fresh, clean and had the best sweet onions. Onion rings are totally delicious; crisp and perfectly fried! Nice open atmosphere and the cook's area is open to see. Large family style tables to sit at, which was very comfortable. First time here, so we will be back. Only 4 stars for atmosphere due to the restroom not smelling fresh; had sort of an old pipes odor. Only have 4 stars for the food, which although quite tasty, it's good to season fish and shrimp BEFORE frying for best taste, however it is understandable that some cannot have salt, so it is still on the table, along with hot sauces, tartar and cocktail sauces. We just prefer having it on before cooking, so we'll ask for that next time. Give Nate's a visit! It wasn't busy for a Wednesday and the service is awesome!

It was a totally different experience. The dining tables, The staff & the service. It was all great. The food was cooked in the open, which I LOVED. DEFINITELY returning. Don't forget to order y'all some crab claws.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Walked in and was immediately seated at a cute round top, with cushioned chairs. There are tables of different sizes to fit different numbers of guests. The furniture is old repurposed tables and chairs. There's tvs everywhere, playing sports. The bathrooms are very clean; both men and ladies. I'm unsure about the men's, but the ladies bathroom locked two different ways, so double the protection of a accidental walkin.

Had the seafood platter with sweet potato fries and onion rings. The catfish, oysters, shrimp were all fried to perfection. So light and delicately fried onion rings were absolutely delicious. The appetizer of fried crawfish tails were so delicious I could have made a meal out of them alone. Service was this witty (young?) lady that would refill my tea glass with every sip I'd take. Not complaining about that. She made sure we didn't lack nothing. You never needed to get her attention. She was always there. She made sure our food was served hot. The cook did an awesome job with preparing the food properly cooked. Great Job! Atmosphere: Likened to a cafeteria. Wide open space with only very large dining tables. Each table with its own personality. Traditional and farmhouse styles. Very unique and interesting. Along the walls were numerous TV and sport memorabilia along with newspaper enlarged pages of history. My wife and I went on a Wednesday late afternoon and was only the second family there. It wasn't long and people were coming in. The secret local spot is out now. We drove all the way down from Ozark AL. just to try this place out. We were not disappointed. Thank you to the owner and staff. Fine job.
